As leaves shift from green to red and the air gets crisp, we can just hear all of the little snow bunnies and ski hounds crinkling their noses at the whiff of white winter and fresh powder. While it's true that fall is the perfect time to save big on ski and snowboarding passes for Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort, there is a lot to do on the Bend mountain before you catch air and fly down some "freshies."
Instead, how about hover high above the ground in a chairlift ride that takes off at 6,300 feet from the West Village and whizzes you to Pine Marten Lodge at 7,775 feet. On your way to the top, pick your jaw up off the floor as you gaze out at the Cascade Lakes, Three Sisters peaks and a million acres of unmarred backcountry. In season now are also visible ancient lava flows, hidden under snow packs until late summer.
Once the chairlift delivers you to the top of the world, you can choose from a few different activities like dining on the deck of Pine Marten Lodge; hiking the trails of Mt. Bachelor or playing disc golf.
After the day is done, retreat to the Fairfield Inn and Suites' indoor hot tub where you can melt the chill and the day away. Bring a cup of wine for the perfect Après Ski in the winter!
