Before the turkey, stuffing, side dishes and trimmings, take a quick time-out on Thanksgiving morning. Each year, the 5K and 10K race events offer joggers a great way to jumpstart their holiday celebrations. Squeeze in some exercise, and feel that empowering sense of accomplishment as you cross the finish line. With the fresh air and picturesque views of the Pacific Northwest, you'll go into your Thanksgiving traditions feeling invigorated and refreshed.
Participants near and far will be trotting along the turkey day course. Locally, the Girls on the Run of Deschutes County has been training to inspire confidence for the 5K competition. Sending a message that empowers the local youths, this is one example of how the annual event shapes and strengthens the community in Central Oregon. Make the most of your visit to Bend by participating in this popular holiday tradition.
Wind your way around the route once for the 3.1-mile 5K, or do a double for the 6.2-mile 10K finish. Once you find your pace, you can look around and admire the views of the Old Mill District and the beautiful Deschutes River along paved paths and trails.
Jog along or sprint as fast as you can to win one of the competitive prizes. For the Trotter's Walk, participants can enjoy a leisurely 1.6-mile loop around the Old Mill District pathways.
